With January busier than most years, we put aside some time on a Monday for all our team to take part in a refresher First Aid course. Nice early start setting up some chairs, and a presentation room for all participants and the member of White Rose training that was coming to teach. Julie had cups of tea and sandwiches ticked off, so by 9.30 we were ready to get going. With essential techniques and experiences shared, Ken our teacher was very instructive in showing us how to perform CPR and various other life saving methods, from dressing wounds to using defibrillators. A few laughs along the way, Marks heavy handedness, and Adams resuscitation procedure, the seriousness of what we were here to do was always the key.
With the day coming to a close we rounded off by putting pen to paper in a test about what we had learnt, everybody passed with flying colours and all in all the day was a success with a few things hitting home as to the reality of what can happen, not just in our line of work but anywhere.
Accompanying our First Aid with RPII certifications and a annual PIPA test we make sure that we keep on top of all the necessary certificates to keep others and ourselves safe when carrying out our jobs, enforcing our professionalism and ability to undergo the duties expected of us. Keeping up to this, you can expect to hear future stories of our reviving of awards.
